Better Peony Care:

How to Make Peonies Last Longer

Peonies, with their lush, full blooms and intoxicating fragrance, are a beloved favorite for many flower enthusiasts. They are not commonly found in grocery stores because they are more expensive and have a short life making them a risk for most retailers to stock in case they don’t sell. But when you do find this glorious flower it will never fail to impress.

Despite their short-lived nature, typically blooming for only 4-5 days, their beauty is timeless and captivating. However, with our specially formulated flower food, you can enjoy your peonies for 20-50% longer than usual! Our product provides the essential energy that flowers crave, helping them live longer and bloom bigger. Keep reading to learn more.

The Allure of Peonies
There’s something incredibly special about peonies. Their elegant, ruffled petals and rich, vibrant colors can transform any space into a sanctuary of beauty and tranquility. Unlike many commercial flowers that lack a fragrance, peonies are known for their delightful scent, adding another layer of sensory pleasure to their visual appeal.

Peonies have a certain charm that few flowers can match. Their blooms are large and luxurious, often evoking feelings of romance and nostalgia. Whether they’re gracing a bridal bouquet or simply brightening up a living room, peonies make a statement of elegance and sophistication.

The Challenge of the Peony Short Lifespan
One of the few drawbacks of the peony flower is their naturally short lifespan. Most peonies flowers only bloom for about 4-5 days, which can feel fleeting for those who adore their presence. However, this short life does not define their beauty; it only makes each moment with them more precious.

For flower lovers, this can be a bit disheartening. After all, who wouldn’t want to enjoy these magnificent blooms for as long as possible? Thankfully, there are ways to extend the life of your peonies and savor their beauty a little longer.

How To Make Peonies Last wtih Flower Boosters Cut Flower Enhancer
While peonies may not last as long as some other flower varieties, using  Flower Boosters brand can significantly enhance their longevity. With our specially formulated cut flower food, you can extend the life of your peonies to 6+ days. This may not seem like a long time compared to other flowers, but for peonies, it’s up to an 75% improvement that allows you to enjoy their elegance for a few more cherished days.

Flower Boosters works by providing essential nutrients that support the flowers’ health and vitality. By using our formula, you can help maintain the freshness and beauty of your peonies, ensuring they look their best for as long as possible.

Tips for Maximizing the Life of Your Peonies: How To Keep Peonies Fresh

In addition to using flower boosters, here are a few tips to help you get the most out of your peonies:

1. Trim the Stems: Cut the stems at a 45-degree angle to allow for better water absorption. Recut the stems every few days to keep them fresh.

2. Change the Water Regularly: Replace the water every 48 hours days to prevent bacterial growth, which can shorten the lifespan of your flowers. I know, I know, you’re busy and don’t want to fuss with flower water but trust me, it will make a huge difference in the life of your peonies making sure they have fresh water and optimal nutrients to greet the day!

3. Keep Them Cool: Peonies prefer cooler temperatures. Keep them out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources to prolong their life. The pictures here show how real flowers performed in a June 100 degree plus heatwave by keeping the air conditioning at a modest 79 degrees during the day and letting the house cool naturally at night. You don’t have to go to extremes – just try to keep peonies at a comfortable temperature.

If you are trying to keep flowers alive as long as possible for public displays, consider keeping your flowers in a refrigerator overnight: it’s what professional florists do to keep flowers alive longer!

4. Use Flower Boosters: Adding our flower food to the water can provide the necessary nutrients to extend the bloom time of your peonies. Our formula is based on natural ingredients and independent academic research. We focused on the quality nutrients flowers need, not just suspending flowers to sell them with a cheap packet that pretends to keep flowers fresher. Compare our ingredients to the free packets and see what you prefer.

The Enduring Beauty of Peonies
While peonies flowers may not bloom for long, their brief presence is undeniably enchanting. Personally, I enjoy peonies more than roses.

Peony care doesn’t have to be hard. By taking a few extra steps, including using our Flower Boosters Cut Flower Enhancer, you can enjoy these stunning flowers longer. Their lush appearance and delightful scent are worth every effort to preserve their beauty.

Embrace the luxurious charm of peonies and make the most of their short yet spectacular bloom period. With a little care and our flower food formula, you can keep your peonies looking fresh and vibrant, savoring their elegance and fragrance for as long as possible.

In the end, I got over 6 days of vibrant blooms from this $10 bouqet! That’s an increase of 20-50% over the standard 4-5 days. Now, on the surface that may not seem like alot, for every two bouquets, it is like getting one free!

How Did They Look On Day 7?

Transparency is important to us. We share our ingredients (most companies won’t) and we want you to expect results you can acheive too. There are many reasons why your flowers may last shorter or longer than our tests.

Follow our blog for tips and tricks on how often to change the water, what kind of water we found works best, temperature and even how to spot old flowers before you buy them.

For this test we got just over 6 days (150 hours after we brought them home) before the flowers started to fade past what we considered visually acceptable. There was also a heat wave going on while we did this test with weather above 100 degress — so it was a “real world” simulation that did not include refridgerating the flowers at any time. We just tried to treat them like any normal consumer would.

By day 7 we felt like one of the peonies flowers still looked fresh but the rest of the bouqet had reached end of vase life. Why would one flower do better or worse than the rest of the bouquet?  Click HERE  for our blog post on why that can happen to any bouquet.
